Union Endorses the following candidates for the Houston Municipal Elections

The HFT has developed new guidelines for the consultation process.  The new guidelines are intended to involve a wider range of members and improve commmunication between the campuses and consultation committee.

QuEST 2009 Highlights
Highlights from the recently concluded 2009 AFT QuEST conference in Washington, D.C., included AFT president Randi Weingarten's keynote address, a town hall meeting with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, a panel on community schools and remarks from U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis. Daily updates from the conference, as well as video highlights, can be found on the AFT's QuEST 2009 Web site.

The HFT Educational Issues Department endoreses HISD Teacher Leadership Program.

HFT Member will visit Japan in June as part of an exchange program sponsored by the government of Japan.

Andrew Williams, a social studies teacher at Barbara Jordan High School, is currently working on his doctoral dissertation study of student management systems used by various school districts. The topic of his study is “Enterprise Resource Systems: Post-Adoptive Use Behavior After Implementation of Student Management Systems (SMS).”
