Answers:

Do I have to provide a medical excuse for being out sick?

You do not need to provide your principal with a medical excuse for absence due to illness until you have been out for 7 days.

Is there a “grace period” for arriving to work on time?

There is no "grace period" for late arrivals to work. If you are not on campus at the start of the work day, you are late.

Do I have to send progress reports to all students in my class?

You only need to send progress reports to students who are failing, are on the verge of failing, or have taken a sudden drop in grades. You do not have to send them to all students in your class.

Is corporal punishment allowed at HISD?

CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS AGAINST HISD POLICY AND IS GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION. Few schools have a waiver. If your principal or anyone else on campus tells you there is a waiver on your campus, ask to see it in writing. If your principal tells you to paddle students without worrying about a waiver, call us immediately. That same principal will swear under oath that he never gave that advice when he testifies at your termination hearing.
