STUDY ON STUDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS BY HFT MEMBER

This research is being conducted by Andrew Lee Williams, Jr., a doctoral candidate under the advisement of Dr. Richard E. Yellen, Professor of Information Technology Management at Capella University. Capella University is located Capella University at 225 South 6th Street, 9th Floor, Minneapolis, MN 55402 (phone information: Phone Information: 1-888-CAPELLA (1-888-227-3552), option 2; Fax Number: 1-612-977-5058).

The topic of the study is “Enterprise Resource Systems: Post-Adoptive Use Behavior After Implementation of Student Management Systems (SMS).” This study uses four groups of student management system users: administrators, counselors, teachers, and clerical staff. Please note that for the purposes of this study, School Registrars, Title I Coordinators, and Magnet Coordinators are considered administrators. In essence, the study examines the effects of self-directed learning on all users of our Chancery Student Management System and the propensity of those users to establish professional learning groups. The study also examines the effects of prior training on available student management system features.

The purpose of this study is to (a) propose a model of post-adoptive use behavior after implementation of the student management system (SMS) adoption process, (b) develop an instrument to measure SMS post-adoptive behavioral constructs (Post-adoptive Behavioral Inventory (PABI)) , (c) conduct empirical investigations to validate the instrument, and (d) to determine whether SMS users who exhibit high self-directed learning characteristics on the Self-directed Learning Survey (SDLS) also exhibit high post-adoptive use behavioral characteristics on the Post-adoptive Behavioral Inventory (PABI).
